Future Plans

Hello! I took a break from development during July and August this summer. During this time, my perspective on the game changed, and I started noticing flaws and issues that I hadn’t seen before or hadn’t given much importance to. As a result, the content of the 0.8 BETA update (the next one at the time of releasing this devlog) will change drastically, and what was initially planned for this update will be moved to 0.9 BETA. Similarly, the content originally intended for 0.9 BETA will be shifted to 0.10 BETA, and so on. The upcoming update won’t have a specific theme like 0.7 (survival mechanics) or 0.6 (decorative buildings). Instead, this update will feature numerous changes across all aspects of the game, and I’ll be discussing them in this devlog.

Settings menu

Work on it began back in June but wasn’t completed. The majority of this menu will be dedicated to key bindings. There will also be settings that allow you to change some visual and performace aspects of the game. image.png

Survival aspects

This aspect of the game will most likely be temporarily removed. It turned out to be quite buggy, and at the moment, it seems unnecessary and simply annoying. It might return in future updates, but I can’t make any promises.

UI

I’m talking about the UI for buildings. The way item movement between slots is currently implemented behaves quite unpredictably. Because of this, moving items with a simple click will be replaced by drag-and-drop or some similar thing. This way, you’ll be able to precisely choose which slot in a chest your old pickaxe goes into, allowing you to organize your inventory more conveniently.

Recipe book

I haven’t yet decided whether it will need to be crafted or if it will be available by default. However, as the name suggests, it will contain recipes for all the items in the game, even those that aren’t made at the workbench. This item is being added due to the lack of clarity with some crafts, like the crafting of wires. image.png

World generation

The current world generation feels quite empty and lifeless. With the removal of survival elements, and consequently food and crops, the world will become even emptier. To address this, many variations of wild decorative plants like ferns, mushrooms, flowers, and so on will be added, along with elements that make the game world feel more alive. Overall, world generation will be reworked.

Old Ruins

Ruins will become a new way to obtain the basic starter kit. Right now, copper tools and the workbench simply appear in your inventory at the very beginning. After the ruins are added, you’ll be able to find the tools and workbench there. You won’t have to spend much time searching for the ruins, as they will spawn right near your starting point.

This isn’t everything that will be added. If you’re interested in these features, I recommend visiting our Discord server, where you can try them out before the 0.8 BETA release. There, you can also chat with other fans of the project, play fan-made mods, and learn how to create your own!
